In the wake of Coronavirus cases rising in the European regions, The Ministry of Health and Family Welfare has issued new guidelines for International arrivals.
As per the new guidelines, travelers arriving in India need not undergo 14-day quarantine when they show the negative Covid-19 test results which were taken 72 hours before reaching India.
As per the circular issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, it says, “They should also give an undertaking on the portal or otherwise to the Ministry of Civil Aviation, Govt. of India, through concerned airlines before they are allowed to undertake the journey that they would abide by the decision of the appropriate government authority to undergo facility/home quarantine/ self-monitoring of their health for 14 days, or as warranted.”
If a person is seeking exemptions against the quarantine, he can submit a self-declaration form online or at least 72 hours before the scheduled travel and they can opt once they arrive at the airport and check-in at the respective health counter.
Those who could not undergo an RT-PCR test before the departure and wish to seek an exemption from institutional quarantine can avail of the facility at the airport and undergo the test. Currently, Delhi, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Cochin are the airports where they provide these tests
However, if the person arriving at the airport has no RT-PCR test results undertaken 72 hours before travel and not opting to undergo RT-PCR test at the airport need to mandatorily undergo 7 days institutional and 7 days of home quarantine.
Although these new regulations are issued by the central government, it is the state government which can amend the rules and also imposes additional restrictions with regards to Isolation and Quarantine Rules for the passengers who are arriving from international locations.
