Fines Will Be Imposed For Insulting Over The Phone
In a video posted by the UAE’s Public Prosecution, it is stated that defaming or insulting people over the phone can have serious implications, with fines and jail time.
According Article 374 of the Federal Penal Code, libel and insults over the phone, the person can be sentenced to detention for a period of over six months or will have to pay a fine not exceeding Dhs 5,000.

If the libel or insult takes place over the phone with the person facing them or with a third party involved, the penalty is a fine not exceeding Dhs 5,000.
The person should also not send an email or letter with libel or insults.
Insults should also not be hurled at a public employee or a person in charge of a public sector and should also not insult their family’s honour.
