Paris Saint Germain star Kylian Mbappe insist his parents will have a huge say in any decisions on his footballing future.
Mbappe, who turns 22 on December 20, is one of the hottest properties in world football at present. Despite his tender years, he has already scored 74 Ligue 1 goals from just 85 appearances.
He has 102 in all competitions and has scored 16 times from 39 outings for France. Throw a World Cup winner’s medal into the mix and it is obvious the youngster has the world at his feet.
Unsurprisingly, a few top clubs have expressed an interest in signing the man from Paris. Premier League champions Liverpool are known admirers while La Liga champions Real Madrid have also been linked.
Barcelona have also been mentioned as possible suitors but any club would need to pay an astronomical amount.
And there is another element to consider, as the former Monaco man clearly seeks counsel with his parents over important issues.
“We make every decision together, as a family. I think it’s the strongest possible thing,” he told COPA90. “This has pushed me higher and allowed me to be where I am today.
“Without them, it would be impossible, because sometimes you have bad moments. When you have bad moments in your career, you can see which people are there for you, and my parents are there for me every time.
“Without them, I don’t think I would have everything I do at the moment. They show me the right way to be and I’m really lucky to have these parents.”
Champions confident of keeping top stars
The Parisians have dominated French football in recent years, winning the title in seven of the last eight seasons. They replaced Lyon as top dogs and face Les Gones on Sunday night.
Thomas Tuchel’s side sit top of the table but have yet to open up a significant gap at the summit.
The capital club want to keep their best players for domestic and European challenges. Club president Nasser al-Khelaifi has opened dialogue with Mpabbe and another star to keep them at the Parc des Princes.
“We have begun to talk with Neymar and Kylian Mbappe,” he told RMC Sport. “The discussions will remain confidential but I am very confident. They both want to stay with us at PSG.”
Mpabbe has scored 10 goals in nine outings this term while Neymar has bagged three in six.
