After long weeks of negotiations, on 9 December the EU-27 adopted the block’s multi-annual budget for 2021-2017 and the post-coronavirus recovery plan. The agreement came after a compromise was reached with Hungary and Poland on how the granting of EU aid is conditional on respect for the rule of law.
