Citi Bike will shut down at 7 p.m. Wednesday night as New York City endures its first major snowstorm of the year, the service announced.
“Due to heavy snow, we will temporarily close the Citi Bike system starting at 7 PM tonight (12/16),” Citi Bike posted on its Twitter account shortly after 2 p.m.
“No bikes can be rented after the closure has begun, though bikes that are in use can be returned to any station with an available dock.”
The Lyft-owned bike-rental system covers most of Manhattan and parts of Brooklyn, Queens and the Bronx.
Citi Bike members can check Twitter and other social media feeds for further service updates, the company said.
