The number of confirmed cases of COVID-19 continues to rise, with the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit reporting 171 new cases Saturday.
Twenty-two of the reported cases are outbreak related, while eight are from close contact with someone with a confirmed case.
One case is community acquired and 140 are still being investigated by the health unit.
The new cases bring the overall count for the region to 5,617.
There are no further deaths related to the novel coronavirus. That grim number remains at 95.
Since March, 4,514 cases have been resolved and 1,008 are still active.
Currently, 74 people are hospitalized because of COVID-19.
Outbreaks continue at 11 long-term care or retirement homes, 11 workplaces, three schools, two hospitals and three community living homes.
The number of cases among staff and residents jumped at Extendicare in Tecumseh, 32 residents – up from 26 and 13 staff from five; The Village at St. Clair in Windsor has 68 residents, which is up from 61 and 50 staff from 40 and Banwell Gardens Care Centre in Windsor saw its numbers increase to seven residents from two and eight staff from one.
