Fraser Health has declared an outbreak at an Abbotsford long-term care facility where four residents have tested positive for COVID-19.
The health authority said Sunday that a rapid response team had been deployed to The Mayfair Senior Living and Care, a 100-bed facility owned by Vancouver’s The Care Group.
“Communication with residents and families is underway,” Fraser Health said in a release. “The residents are currently in self-isolation at their home.”
Fraser Health says it is working with the The Mayfair to “identify anyone who may have been exposed and is taking steps to protect the health of all staff, residents and families.”
Also Sunday, Fraser Health declared a COVID-19 outbreak over at the Royal City Manor in New Westminster where a resident first tested positive on Dec. 2.
“With the implementation of comprehensive strategies to prevent and respond to COVID-19 in care facilities, there is no longer any COVID-19 cases at this location,” the health authority said.
As of Friday, according to the health ministry, there were 56 outbreaks at assisted living and long-term care facilities in British Columbia, including 35 in the Fraser Health region.
