“Given seniors and Elders have been most severely impacted by this virus, this is welcome news for all of us,” said Henry and Dix.
No new health care facility outbreaks were declared Thursday. The outbreak at Belvedere Care Centre was declared over, however, bringing the number of active outbreaks in B.C.’s health care system to 60.
Another 9,732 people are being monitored by public health due to close contact with a known COVID-19 case.
In the final Health Ministry statement before Christmas, Henry and Dix once again reminded residents to celebrate safely, and virtually, whenever possible.
“This Christmas and over the holiday weekend is the time to try the many new virtual activities that have been arranged this year — whether a church service, holiday choral concert or theatre performance,” they said.
“By staying small and staying apart this holiday season, we’re protecting the people we care about most and ensuring the coming weeks and months are better, brighter and safer for everyone.”
