The UAE Ministry of Health and Prevention on Saturday reported 1,227 cases of the Covid-19 coronavirus, along with 1,542 recoveries and two deaths.
As many as 157,461 new Covid-19 tests were carried out, taking the total number of tests carried out in the country to 20 million plus so far.
The total number of cases in UAE as on December 26 stand at 200,892, while recoveries are 177,407. Death toll rises to 655.

Total number of active cases in the country stand at 22,830.
Meanwhile, the Dubai Health Authority (DHA) received an international recognition for being “proactive” in its Covid-19 response action plan.
The authority was honoured by the International Hospital Federation (IHF) under the ‘Beyond the Call of Duty for Covid-19 Programme’ for its “swift and innovative” action plan during the pandemic.

The battle to halt the pandemic, which has claimed more than 1.7 million lives, is far from over despite the launching of mass vaccine campaigns that offer the promise of an eventual return to normalcy.
Late on Thursday, the US announced that airline passengers from Britain needed to get a negative Covid-19 test before their flight.
The US is the latest country to announce new travel restrictions because of a new variant of the coronavirus that is spreading in Britain and elsewhere.
