Has all this time at home made you tired of cooking and even tired of your home’s decor? To keep my place functioning well for this new stay-at-home lifestyle and to just love it again, I’ve got a few home projects scheduled for 2021.
I’m designing a new office space, a new living-room fireplace, and a spectacular outdoor terrace for next summer. They have to function well and look great, so I’ll be taking my style cues from a few of 2021’s biggest decor trends. If you are like me and ready to refresh your place, maybe one (or more) of my top five 2021 decor trends will inspire you. I’ve chosen trends that will last for some time, making them great investments for now and tomorrow … and tomorrow … and tomorrow. Best of all, they’ll help you see your place in a whole new way.
Trend 1: Handmade details
One of the easiest and most affordable trends to incorporate is handmade detailing on accessories and furniture. I’m talking about elements like stitching on pillows, trims and piping on upholstered goods, and faux finishes — features that give the impression of a one-off, special piece. Want to get the look? Try your hand at stitching metallic beads to the edge of a plain velvet pillow, paint an old lamp base an on-trend colour, or wallpaper the inside of a china cabinet. These sorts of custom details add individuality and interest to your home.
