An East Windsor commercial property that was the scene of a fire less than a week ago became the scene of a fatal industrial accident on Boxing Day.
The incident happened at a building in the 6500 block of Cantelon Drive on the afternoon of Dec. 26.
Initial reports indicated that a collapse occurred at the fire-damaged structure, fatally injuring a worker.
Windsor firefighters, police, and paramedics responded to the scene around 1:30 p.m.
The injured worker was reported as being absent of vital signs.
The property is part of an industrial park off Lauzon Parkway, south of Tecumseh Road East and just north of Ford Motor Company’s Windsor Engine Plant.
Most of the area’s neighbouring properties are devoted to trucking and logistics.
The fire at the property happened during the early morning hours of Dec. 20.
Firefighters needed to use a ladder tower to extinguish the flames. Damage from the fire was estimated at $500,000.
More to come.
