A 59-year-old Nanaimo man was found dead on Boxing Day and police are investigating reports of a possible fight the night before.
A member of the public reported finding a dead man on Fitzwilliam Street, near Wallace Street, about 5:45 a.m. Saturday.
Police, paramedics and the B.C. Coroners Service attended.
Officers who responded knew the man from previous interactions. Police said he is of no fixed address. His family has been notified.
Police have learned that loud voices were heard in the area on Friday night, and that the deceased man was last seen about 9:30 p.m.
Investigators would like to speak to anyone who heard or saw anything in the area on Friday or Saturday, or who interacted with the man before his death, said Nanaimo RCMP Const. Gary O’Brien.
