“He has done all of those things in my state of Pennsylvania,” the senator added.
“He’s drawn conservative Republican judges who’ve dismissed these cases for a lack of any credible evidence.”

Toomey Believes Trump Went Too Far With Pardons
Toomey defended President Trump’s pardon of former national security adviser Michael Flynn, but criticized some of the other pardons Trump has issued.
The senator said, “I think it’s a misuse of the power” referring to those pardoned merely because they have a connection to the President.
Toomey vaguely compared the Trump pardons he criticized with former President Bill Clinton’s pardon of financier Marc Rich in 2001.
“I mean, my goodness, we have tax fraud and bank fraud, witness tampering, obstruction of justice, but because they were close to the president they got pardoned,” the senator said.

Toomey: ‘The President Is Often Unpredictable’
In addition to Flynn, some of Trump’s pardons have included:
- His former campaign manager Paul Manafort
- Charles Kushner, who is the father of his son-in-law, Jared Kushner
- Former Republican congressmen Chris Collins, Duncan Hunter, Steve Stockman, and Mark Sijander
- Roger Stone, Alex Van Der Zwaan, and George Papadopoulos who were part of the Mueller Russia investigation.
Toomey was asked if presidential pardons should be restricted, the senator seemed skeptical. “It’s a good discussion to have but it’s a tough call,” Toomey said. “I think it would be very challenging.”
When the issue of more possible pardons by President Trump was brought up, Toomey replied, “The president is often unpredictable.”
