Meanwhile, Section 144 will be imposed in Karnataka’s capital city Bengaluru from 6 pm on December 31 till 6 am on January 1. MG Road, Church Street, Brigade Road, Koramangala and Indiranagar in Bengaluru are usually very crowded on new year’s eve as people gather in thousands to become a part of the celebrations.
However, the usual festivities this year have taken a hit because of the Coronavirus pandemic and now with the UK strain having entered the country, people are advised to be much more careful as the mutant is termed to be “superspreader”. 7 cases of the new Covid variant have been reported in Karnataka alone.
All these busy areas have been listed as ‘no man zones’. CCTVs have been installed everywhere so that the places can be monitored to spot violators. Police have appealed to people to stay at their homes.
