15) Aly Abdelaziz, 19 — Aug. 24 — Police found the victim lying injured on a sidewalk on l’Acadie Blvd., near the intersection of Salaberry St., in Ahuntsic-Cartierville at around 12:30 a.m. Despite having been stabbed, he was conscious and was able to provide information about his assailants before dying. Ahmed Raza, 18, was arrested when he turned up at a hospital shortly after Abdelaziz was stabbed. He was charged with first-degree murder. Two weeks later, three other men were charged in connection with the attack on Abdelaziz. Houzafia Osta, 22, is charged with first-degree murder and Billal Brahimi, 19, is charged with manslaughter. The other man, Owayss Kraiz, 20, is charged with armed assault.
16) Shao Jing Lu, 57 — Sept. 7 — Someone who was concerned after having not heard from Lu, the mother of two adult children, for a while set out to find her. The person called police after locating her lifeless body inside her car, which was parked in the interior parking lot of a condo building on de la Rotonde St. on Nuns’ Island. She died as a result of having been assaulted and her death was declared a homicide following an autopsy. Frank Cao, 52, the owner of a daycare in Ste-Catherine on the South Shore, was charged, on Dec. 18, with first degree murder in this case.
