The Ontario Provincial Police is restricting accesses to its facilities across the province in hopes of reducing the spread of COVID-19.
The OPP said Thursday it is limiting routine criminal record checks, vulnerable sector checks and finger printing to essential workers and volunteers.
Anyone seeking entry to Essex County OPP detachments must make an appointment. They will also be pre-screened and must have proper personal protective equipment.
Call in advance for any detachment-based service including criminal record and vulnerable sector checks. Operating hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
For emergencies, call 9-1-1. For all other police matters, call 1-888-310-1122 or your local detachment. You can also file reports online at opp.ca/reporting.
