Alerts issued as videos show rains lashing Abu Dhabi Island.
Motorists in the UAE have been urged to drive cautiously as rains hit parts of the country on Sunday. The National Centre of Meteorology (NCM) also warned of poor visibility caused by fog in some areas.
According to the NCM, “moderate” rain has been reported over some areas of Abu Dhabi Island. “Light to moderate” rainfall has also been reported over the Capital’s Saadiyat Island. All posts were made with #cloud_seeding.
An alert on the NCM website said the sea would be rough at times in the Arabian Gulf. This would be “associated with rain and fresh winds” with speeds reaching up to 45km/hr — blowing up dust and sand. It also warned of “poor visibility over some coastal” areas that “may extend to some internal areas” from 5.45am till 6.45pm today.
The NCM issued “be aware” and “be on the lookout” alerts on Twitter as “hazardous” weather events are forecast.
