Jamiroquai vocalist Jay Kay knows all about Virtual Insanity, but it still came as a surprise to the British singer-songwriter after he went viral when people on social media noted his resemblance to one of rioters at Wednesday’s protests in Washington D.C.
Hundreds of pro-Trump supporters stormed the U.S. Capitol in unrest that resulted in four deaths after the president claimed that he was the rightful winner in November, trumpeting unfounded conspiracy theories of a stolen presidential election by Joe Biden and the Democrats.
Twitter users were horrified by the scenes of insurrectionists marching through the government building brandishing Confederate flags and wearing clothing promoting slogans and imagery of QAnon, a cult-like conspiracy group that some Trump supporters have embraced.
But one protester wearing a horned headdress made headlines for his uncanny similarity to Kay. He has since identified as Jake Angeli, a 32-year-old QAnon supporter and avid Trump supporter.
