According to a recent report from Eurosport, West Ham United are interested in trying to sign Chelsea forward Olivier Giroud.
The belief is that the Frenchman would serve as a replacement for the outgoing Sebastien Haller who has joined Ajax, in a deal that hasn’t exactly gone down perfectly with all Hammers fans.
Giroud has already proven himself to be quite the asset to the Blues this season and that trend will almost certainly continue if he does remain at Stamford Bridge, but if West Ham want to calm some of the worries amongst their supporters, they’ll need to bring in one or two major transfers.
Yes, they would be replacing a 26-year-old with a 34-year-old veteran, but Giroud is the definition of a proven commodity. If he couldn’t help West Ham in front of goal upon signing, then we’re not entirely sure who could based on the type of striker they’re aiming for.
