Danault was also the Canadiens’ top faceoff man, winning 54.5 per cent of his draws, and finished sixth in voting for the Frank Selke Trophy as the top defensive forward in the NHL.
Early in the off-season, Danault expressed frustration about the possibility of him becoming a third-line centre behind youngsters Nick Suzuki and Jesperi Kotkaniemi, who had impressive performances during the postseason. We got some size, we got some good centres, good wingers. We got everything, so there’s going to be some good matchups out there, too, and everyone can chip in. We got a lot of depth to play against the big lines out there.”
