As more prominent Republican party members who either participated or riled up angry insurgents at the Capitol continue to be exposed, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas has come to the forefront as a staunch supporter of the mob before the insurrection occurred.
According to Slate, Ginni Thomas seemingly aligned herself with rioters offering words of encouragement and support via social media just hours before the deadly insurgence on Jan. 6. The insurrection claimed the lives of five people.
On the morning of Jan. 6, Ginni Thomas—wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas—endorsed the protest demanding that Congress overturn the election, then sent her “LOVE” to the demonstrators, who violently overtook the Capitol several hours later. Slate also reported that the ultra-conservative Thomas is an ardent Trump supporter.
For background, Ginni Thomas is a conservative lobbyist and avid Trump supporter who campaigned for him. She also routinely spreads fringe conspiracy theories on Facebook. She recently posted: “No one, and I mean no one, has done more to harm America than the Democrats.” pic.twitter.com/LwwtJ0sNlJ

She has used her now-deleted Facebook page to promote disorder among citizens as well as numerous conspiracy theories including, Bill Gates’ use of the COVID vaccine to kill people, unsupported claims of Joe Biden’s corruption and accusing former President Obama of using his administration to illegally spy on Trump’s campaign to rig the election against him, the publication detailed.
Thomas has even accused the democratic party of causing harm to the American people.
“No one, and I mean no one, has done more to harm America than the Democrats,” Slate reported.
She and her husband’s eerie silence on the recent deadly riots at the Capitol could easily cancel that argument.
According to the New York Times, Thomas has allegedly used her position as a justice’s wife to sway Trump’s decisions regarding appointees in his administration and to further her bigoted agenda.
Her Groundswell coalition lobbied the president heavily against allowing transgender people to serve in the U.S. military. He had prohibited it in 2017, but the ban did take effect around the same time as the meeting in 2019.
The brazen woman audaciously sent lists to the president she deemed unloyal to the Trump administration to convince the commander-in-chief to terminate the alleged disloyal employees, Axios reported in February 2020. He disregarded her demands.
According to the Chicago Sun-Times, Justice Thomas seemingly ignores his wife’s sometimes over-involvement in partisan politics. Unlike the spouses of other justices, her work is largely inside of the political arena. The longest-serving justice in the nation’s highest court has yet to recuse himself from any case that could potentially be viewed as a conflict of interest due to the Thomases’ cozy relationship with Trump, including disputes over absentee-ballot extensions and other voting issues.
It is unlikely that Thomas’s instigating will result in punishment. The Thomases have not made any comments regarding the insurrection or Ginni’s encouragement of the mob.
