Martin will become president and artistic director of Dare to Care.
“I am very excited to begin this new chapter of Dare to Care Records’ great history,” Martin said in a statement. “I have many ideas for the future of the label, but my priority remains to provide a healthy and inclusive environment for our employees to thrive as well as for our artists to develop and continue to share our culture.”
On Instagram Wednesday morning, Martin wrote: “For 20 years, this record company has helped develop artists from here and has allowed me to become who I am today. … This is the start of a whole new chapter for the record company and I am proud to carry the torch.”
Dare to Care and its sister label Grosse Boîte represent some of Quebec’s top artists, including Coeur de pirate, Émile Bilodeau, Fanny Bloom, Jean Leloup and Fred Fortin.
