How does getting this vaccine make you feel?
I feel proud and honored to have gotten this vaccine! Personally, I knew if I got the opportunity to receive the vaccine through my work as a medical assistant, I would definitely sign up. I feel like I am doing my part to protect the people around me.
What does getting this vaccine mean to you?
Getting the vaccine means that I am able to keep my family, friends, and patients safe from the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic, which means the world to me.
What would you say to someone who feels hesitant about getting the vaccine?
I would suggest that the individual does their research and makes the best decision for them, while knowing how important and effective vaccines are for society.
What have been some of your favorite ways to stay physically active during the pandemic?
I have enjoyed continuing to be physically active during this pandemic by going for runs outside to get some fresh air, as well as doing short, targeted workouts posted by fitness influencers on Instagram at home.
How have you been taking care of your emotional wellbeing during the pandemic?
If I am being honest, I definitely could be doing a better job of taking care of my emotional wellbeing. I am a big, big fan of journaling, but it is a habit I have fallen out of in the past few months. I always feel better after talking to my mom, playing with my dog, or going for a solo drive, so I try to do those things when I am feeling down.
How do you stay connected with others?
I love to stay connected with friends and family near and far via text, phone calls, Facetime calls, and Zoom sessions. It is super important for me to prioritize my relationships, and staying connected with my loved ones always lifts my spirits.
Now that you have received the first dose of the vaccine, what is the next thing that you will be holding onto for hope?
I am holding on to the hope that the vaccine will be more widely distributed to the general population in the coming months, and within the year we might be able to return to at least some semblance of normalcy. I personally am looking forward to giving my great aunt a huge hug!
Do you have any positive words of encouragement for members of our audience who are feeling completely drained and burnt out from this pandemic?
You are doing amazing. This has been an unprecedented year. Everyone is doing the best they can, and that is the best that anyone can do right now. There is no doubt in the world that the past year has been mentally and emotionally draining, but you can do this. Stay safe, be kind to one another, and continue to wear your mask.
