After dropping significantly Saturday, the numbers of newly confirmed positive COVID-19 cases shot up by 270 Sunday, bringing the total number of people in Windsor-Essex who have tested positive to 11,022.
There have been 255 deaths to date, but no further deaths reported on Sunday.
The Windsor-Essex County Health Unit is reporting 20 cases are outbreak related, nine are attributed to close contact with a person who previously tested positive, three are community acquired and 238 are under investigation by the health unit.
There are 120 people with COVID-19 in hospital.
To date, the total number of resolved cases is 8,055, 2,172 remain active.
Twenty-one long-term care and retirement homes across the region have active COVID-19 outbreaks as well as 23 workplaces, one community location and three units at Windsor Regional Hospital.
Windsor Regional Hospital continues to deal with two outbreaks at Ouellette campus (the 4M and 6E units) and one outbreak at Met campus (4N unit).
