If there’s anyone who knows how eager we all are for more information about THE SUICIDE SQUAD it’s the film’s director, James Gunn. While fielding questions from fans on Monday, Gunn tweeted that he’s a “hair’s breadth” from being completely finished with the movie. You know what that means, don’t you? It means that soon it will be time for more official images, teasers, and eventually, a full-on trailer that’s bound to get people pumped for what lies ahead.

Shortly after announcing that the film is nearing its completion, Gunn urged fans to remain patient while he and his team prep some cool stuff to share sooner rather than later.
I know, I know. You want the trailer. Or the teaser. Or more news. Or who the baddie is (they ALL are the baddies but also…) Anyway this will all be with you in due time, I’m working on cool stuff for you, but please be patient! ???? https://t.co/5LdiviegQU

Comic book movie fans are like Veruca Salt, James. They want it all! It matters not how hard or fast you work to give the people what they want, they will always want more. It’s the nature of the beast and whatnot. That said, it’s comforting to know that Gunn is in the midst of working on several comics-related projects including a Suicide Squad spin-off revolving around John Cena’s Peacemaker for HBO Max as well as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 for Marvel Studios. Before long it’s going to be all Gunn all the time, baby, and you can bet that fans are going to eat whatever the filmmaker dishes out with a fork and knife.
Written and directed by James Gunn, The Suicide Squad stars a murderers’ row of talent with Margot Robbie, Viola Davis, Joel Kinnaman, Jai Courtney, David Dastmalchian, John Cena, Joaquin Cosio, Nathan Fillion, Mayling Ng, Flula Borg, Sean Gunn, Juan Diego Botto, Storm Reid, Pete Davidson, Taika Waititi, Alice Braga, Steve Agee, Tinashe Kajese, Daniela Melchior, Peter Capaldi, Julio Ruiz, Jennifer Holland, Idris Elba, and Michael Rooker all locked and loaded for the soft reboot of Task Force X in the DCEU.
When the film arrives, it will task DC’s worst of the worst with estroying a Nazi-era prison and laboratory named Jotunheim, where political prisoners were held and experimentations took place. That sure as hell sounds like fun to me, and it’s all set to begin in theaters and on HBO Max on August 6, 2021.
