Monday, 3 p.m. – 1,330 new cases, 31 additional deaths in B.C.
B.C. health officials say another 1,330 people tested positive for COVID-19 on the weekend.
Dr. Bonnie Henry, B.C.’s provincial health officer, also reported that 31 more people had died from the disease, raising the provincial death toll to 1,078.
The daily case numbers continue to drop in B.C.
Between Sunday and Monday, there were 301 new cases, which represents the province’s lowest daily total since Nov. 3, when 299 cases were recorded.
Henry noted that temporary foreign workers, who arrived in B.C. to work on farms, accounted for 13 of the new weekend cases.
The workers, she said, are now in isolation.
“We are continuing our program of providing quarantine accommodations in hotels and support for people who are temporary foreign workers coming into B.C. to work on farms and carry out the very important role they play supporting our agriculture industry here in the province,” she said.
A total of 61,447 people have tested positive in B.C. since the start of the pandemic.
There are 4,326 active cases in the province with 343 people being treated in hospital, including 68 in intensive care.
A total of 87,346 people have received vaccinations in British Columbia.
