A country-wide arrest warrant has been issued for a man who failed to return home as per his court-ordered conditions.
RCMP say David Morin, 26, did not return to his designated Vancouver residence on Jan. 2, contrary to court orders. He is now considered unlawfully at large and a warrant has been issued for him.
The court conditions stem from Morin’s conviction in a 2017 assault of his then girlfriend.
That year, Morin was staying in Prince George after being evacuated from his nearby community due to the forest fires. He was found to have confined his girlfriend to a hotel room during that time, where he assaulted her while he was using methamphetamine. The pair also had what Morin said was consensual sex but a judge found otherwise, due to the violence that preceded the act.
Police said Morin has ties to Williams Lake and may be heading to or may have already arrived in the area.
Morin is described as an Indigenous man, about 6-foot-2, weighing 190 pounds, with short black hair and brown eyes.
“While we believe that Morin may have travelled to the Williams Lake area, he was last seen in Vancouver on Jan. 2,” said Staff Sgt. Janelle Shoihet with the B.C. RCMP.
“As such we are asking all British Columbians to keep an eye out for him.”
Anyone who recognizes Morin or has information about his whereabouts is asked to contact local police.
