Many of us remain logged into our various social media accounts out of convenience. It’s tedious to log in every time we open an app, especially on our phones.
Scores of Facebook users, however, found themselves logged out of the mobile app on Friday night. Most were able to log back in, but in an age when hacks are a daily occurence, some were concerned their accounts had been compromised.
Facebook tweeted on Friday that it was “working to resolve this issue as quickly as possible.” By Saturday, it blamed a “configuration change” for the logouts. “[Thank you] to the engineers who fixed the issue and patiently tried to explain the cause to us to no avail,” it tweeted from the @facebookapp account.
As Engadget notes, the problem appeared to mostly affect iPhone users. Some with two-factor authentication also reported a delay in receiving their codes, while others had trouble remembering their Facebook passwords entirely. (Psst: Get a password manager!)
