The premiers of Ontario and Quebec, however, suggested some new measures could be implemented swiftly, including mandatory quarantines in hotels for returning travellers, further flight bans from countries where new variants of the novel coronavirus are circulating and mandatory testing upon arrival in Canada.

11:15 a.m. – Exposure alert issued for Whistler’s Longhorn Saloon
Vancouver Coastal Health has issued a potential COVID-19 exposure alert for another Whistler nightspot.
The health agency says possible exposure occurred at the Longhorn Saloon, 4280 Mountain Square, between Jan. 16 and 25 during operating hours.
The alert doesn’t specify how many infected people were at the Longhorn on those days, or whether they were patrons or staff.
The health region does say those who did visit the bar are at a low risk of catching the virus, but they are still asked to monitor themselves for symptoms.
On Monday, VCH warned of possible COVID-19 exposures at two other Whistler restaurants. The exposure at Hy’s Steakhouse & Cocktail Bar, 4308 Main Street, was on Jan. 13 and Jan. 15-16 during operating hours, while the El Furniture Warehouse, 4314 Main Street, exposure was on Jan. 12 and Jan. 14-21 during working hours.
10:30 a.m. – Manitoba requiring travellers from all other provinces to self-isolate
The Manitoba government is requiring all domestic travellers to self-isolate for 14 days after entering the province.
