James Rodríguez and Richarlison in Everton training
The Magpies have lost each of their last five matches in the league, scoring just two goals in that period. Steve Bruce’s side lost at home to promoted Leeds United on Tuesday night, conceding the winning goal just four minutes after equalising. Their hopes of a positive result appear slim, as Newcastle have won just one of their last 16 trips to the blue half of Merseyside. However, the Magpies defeated Everton 2-1 back in November, but their form dipped soon after as they have gone 11 matches without a win. The pressure is mounting on Bruce, who is watching on as his team get dragged into a relegation scrap. Follow live updates of the Premier League match below.

9 mins: Darlow doesn’t look very confident in the Newcastle goal. Lucas Digne whips a cross in from the left and Darlow shakily punches the ball out for a corner under pressure from Rodriguez. The corner is sent in by Gylfi Sigurdsson but comes to nothing for the Toffees.

James Rodriguez slots a nice pass into Richarlison who knocks the ball past the Newcastle defender and tries to sprint past him, Lascelles cynically takes out the Brazilian to stop him. Everton play the free kick out to Rodriguez on the left wing and he swings a cross into the box. Darlow comes out to punch it away but Yerry Mina gets his head to the ball and it goes wide.

3 mins: The corner ball is fizzed into the area but Everton defend it and counter with Alex Iwobi. He carries the ball out to the left wing and then holds it up as there aren’t many options available in front of him. The ball comes back to Jordan Pickford who boots it long for Dominic Calvert-Lewin to chase. Karl Darlow sprints to the edge of his own box, heads the ball away and is then fouled by the Everton striker.
