Mumbai: Asserting India’s sovereignty cannot be compromised, cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar on Wednesday reacted to the comments made by some foreign celebrities on the farmers’ protests in the country and said external forces can be spectators but not participants.
“India’s sovereignty cannot be compromised. External forces can be spectators but not participants. Indians know India and should decide for India. Let’s remain united as a nation,” he tweeted with the hashtags #IndiaTogether and #IndiaAgainstPropaganda.

The batting maestro’s reaction came as the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) besides politicians cutting across party lines condemned the tweets made with regard to the farmers’ protests. The MEA on its part said the temptation of sensationalist social media hashtags and comments, especially when resorted to by celebrities and others are neither accurate nor responsible.
Union Home Minister Amit Shah also echoed similar sentiments as he said: “no propaganda can deter India’s unity”.
The Congress on its part said it was India’s internal matter.

Thousands of farmers have been protesting since November, demanding the government to repeal the three farm laws besides ensuring the legal guarantee of minimum support price (MSP) for their crops.
