Sometimes, you get the opportunity to get involved in something really special. When I started my journey as a Governor of Cerebral Palsy Alliance (CPA) more than decade ago, I had no real understanding of the impact the work by the CPA research foundation would have – nor the incredible people I would meet.
Oscar aged 12, has an absolute love for life and intrinsic passion for sport, nothing stands in this young man’s way. Not even Mount Kosciusko.
He has low muscle tone and can walk for 30 minutes before his legs fatigue, on Saturday February 13th, Oscar is set to participate in CPA’s Krazy Kosci Klimb and trek 18.4kms to the top of Mount Kosciusko. The roundtrip journey from Charlotte Pass is expected to take him 8-9 hours. This is a once in a life-time experience for Oscar.
Oscar is not afraid to dream big and set himself a big audacious goal. It’s inspiration for all of us. Oscar knows he will need the support of people to help him achieve his dream. It’s no different in business – it takes a team collaborating and working hand in hand to achieve goals. We cannot do it on our own.
Oscar will be joined by our leadership colleagues from Big Red Group (BRG). There has been nothing but excitement from David, Jemma, Maddi, Matt and Kevin to be part of Team Oscar, keen to support and accompany him on his mission to climb a great mountain. Oscar’s enthusiasm is infectious, he has hope, belief, and aspirations in his eyes. He lives by the BRG beliefs of living a life full of experiences and making every moment count.
Oscar knows that by embarking on his mission, he’s not just doing it for himself, but he’s inspiring other young people to stretch themselves, to set high goals, and to ‘give it a crack’.
If you or your business would like to get involved in supporting Oscar and raising funds for CPA through purchasing raffle tickets (strictly limited to 2000 tickets, $10 per ticket, $25 for three tickets), you’ll go in the draw to ‘WIN a Monthly RedBalloon Experience for Two for an Entire Year’.
We can all make a difference.
So, I thank my colleagues at Big Red Group for becoming Oscar’s support team and recognising that collective effort is always so important when helping one to achieve their goals.
Oscar, we wish you well and know that we’re with you every step of the way.
