A horrific incident just like that of 2020 Kanpur encounter has come to the light where a police constable was killed while a sub-inspector was injured after goons attacked the cops during a raid at an illegal liquor factory in Kasganj area of Uttar Pradesh on Tuesday.
According the early media reports, the deceased constable has been identified as Devendra while the SI has been identified as Ashok Kumar.
The cops had gone to raid the area on Tuesday evening over a tip-off over illegal liquor when some miscreants captured the personnel and attacked them with sticks.
Going by the reports, the cops managed to fled from the site and notified the officials after which, an additional force was called and a search operation was conducted. The policemen were found injured in in a field in Nagla Dhimar village under Sidhpura police station. The duo was soon rushed to a local hospital for treatment where Devendra succumbed to his injuries.
Reacting to the incident, Chief Minister’s Office released a statement wherein Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath called for strict action against those involved in the crime.
News agency ANI quoted the Chief Minister’s Office as saying, “Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has instructed for strict action against those involved in the alleged hostage of police personnel in Kasganj. Action to be taken against the culprit under National Security Act.”
The latest incident reminds of the Kanpur encounter case where eight policemen were shot dead by gangster Vikas Dubey last year. The team of cops were attacked by Dubey and his associates in midnight on July 2 in the Bikru village in Chaubeypur area of Kanpur. More than a week after the incident, main accused Dubey was shot dead by the police when he was allegedly trying to escape the police custody.
