Six people were injured in five road accidents in Dubai in the last 48 hours, the emirate’s police said on Thursday.
Most of the accidents happened because of traffic violations, including speeding, swerving and distracted driver, said Brigadier Saif Muhair Al Mazrouei, director of the Dubai Traffic Police.
“The first accident was reported on an internal road in Al Quoz Industrial Area in front of the Emirates Driving Institute. A light vehicle collided with an e-scooter rider who was riding in an undesignated zone,” Brig Al Mazrouei said. The biker was seriously injured and was rushed to a hospital.
Then, in Umm Ramool area, a lorry crashed into a light vehicle, causing mild injury to the latter’s driver, the officer added.
“Another accident happened on Al Ittihad Road at Al Mulla Plaza tunnel, when a vehicle veered off the road and hit a cement barrier before turning over. The driver sustained a moderate injury.”
The fourt incident happened on Wednesday morning on a service road along the Sheikh Zayed Road.
“We received a report about a speeding vehicle that deviated from its lane and collided so hard with another vehicle that it veered off the road and flipped over. The crash left both vehicles severely damaged, and resulted in two injuries, one of which was serious,” Brig Al Mazrouei said.
Another driver sustained mild injuries when his vehicle swerved off the road and overturned on Al Ittihad Road towards Bur Dubai.
The traffic police director urged drivers to keep their eyes on the road and strictly follow regulations. He warned against speeding, improper overtaking, swerving and distractions while driving.
