Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on a conference call that he could not say whether the United States had notified Russia of its plans in advance, adding that operational contacts were made through the military.
A US attack at dawn targeted several areas in Eastern Syria on the Syrian-Iraqi border, Syrian state television reported on Friday citing its reporter in Deir al-Zor.
Later on Friday, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that the US gave Russia several minutes of advance warning before it carried out a strike in Syria, a timeframe he described as inadequate, the RIA news agency reported.
Lavrov also called on the United States to renew contacts with Moscow over Syria to clarify US President Joe Biden’s position on Syria, the Interfax news agency reported.
