Department: COLSA
Role at UNH: Sudent
Year Started at UNH: 2018
What does being healthy feel like to you?
I think being healthy means I feel a good energy in both a mental and physical aspect.
What do you do to keep UNH healthy during the pandemic?
I stay healthy by wearing my mask and making sure my Wildcat Pass is valid before leaving my apartment!
What are some of your favorite ways to get physical activity?
My favorite physical activity is definitely hiking! I’m also apart of CHAARG on campus and I love the weekly workouts and going to my small group meeting every week!
What have you been doing to take care of your emotional wellness during the pandemic?
I think trying to plan one fun thing to “unplug” every week has helped me emotionally. My roommates and I like to watch the sunrise at the beach, go on walks, or play games like UNO together!
How do you stay connected with others during these times of uncertainty?
I stay connected by calling and FaceTiming my friends and family. My family and I will plan Zoom calls every once in a while with my cousins and aunts!
How do you find motivation to stay active and healthy on campus or at home?
Staying motivated is hard, but I try to remember how great I feel after working out! Planning to work out with a friend is a great way to hold yourself accountable. I like to go to the Hamel Rec Center right at 6 am because they don’t charge for parking until 7 am!
Have you seen or felt any improvements in your physical or emotional wellbeing after making positive changes in your life?
Yes of course! Even if I physically cannot see changes right away after working out or eating differently I always “feel” better, which makes me want to continue doing it!
Do you have any positive words of encouragement for others on campus to create a healthier lifestyle?
Some of my mantras that I live by are:
“Life is tough but so are you” and “Everything happens for a reason, trust the process”
