- LG Germany has provided a roadmap for Android 11 updates.
- The Velvet 5G would get its update in April, but Wing owners might have to wait until Q4.
- Most other phones won’t get updates for a few months.
You may need some patience if you’re waiting to update your LG phone to Android 11. As PlunikaWeb has learned, LG Germany has posted an upgrade roadmap indicating just when users can expect Google’s current OS, at least in that country.
You’re in luck (relatively speaking) if you own the Velvet 5G, as LG should deliver your Android 11 update sometime in April. You may be waiting for a while, however. The LTE Velvet isn’t slated to get its update until the third quarter of 2021, while the G8X and G8S won’t get their new software until the second and third quarters respectively.

It gets worse if you’re using other phones. LG won’t supply Android 11 for the one-of-a-kind Wing, the budget K42, and the K52 until the fourth quarter —right as many rival brands’ phones are likely to get their Android 12 updates.
This is one country’s update schedule, so don’t be surprised if Android 11 reaches your LG phone earlier (or later) than it does in Germany. South Korean Velvet owners should already have their software, for instance. The timing might also vary if you bought the carrier version of a given device.
Still, this probably won’t thrill you. LG is deploying the update months after some of its peers, and the gap only grows wider among budget devices. While LG has its advantages, a timely operating system update process doesn’t appear to be one of them.
