ANOTHER PERSPECTIVE
I appreciate you printing Jessica Faraone’s version of her disagreement with Canada’s border security when she arrived from Tanzania (“Just sick of it all,” Liz Braun, March 8). I feel that this lockdown has been much more damaging to our society than any COVID-19 would have been. The cure is worse than the disease — overdoses, suicides, delayed operations, delayed diagnoses. How is it that three doctors have made all political decisions for the past year? As a registered nurse, I value her differing opinion (which many other professionals agree with). Once again, the Toronto Sun informs!

SELFISH NURSE
It appears that Jessica Faraone, registered nurse, is a wonderful person caring for the vulnerable and needy in Tanzania. However, she is very misguided when it comes to COVID and its devastating assault on our population. As a nurse, she should know how viruses are transmitted. Maybe she slept through that part of her training. Nevertheless, in Canada, we have laws that all citizens are expected to abide by, and when they don’t, there are consequences. With COVID, it may not kill her, but she may kill her patients, family, or friends. Is her not isolating or wearing a mask worth someone’s life? We have laws that we may not like. Speed limits, stop signs, red lights, drinking underage, etc., these are there for citizens’ protection. In addition, it’s against the law to shoot or kill someone, but that is what she is advocating to do. Be a good nurse, not a selfish, self-centred person.

GO TO A NEW HOME
This nurse is more than entitled to her own opinion. Obviously, she is used to expressing it. There is something called public health which perhaps she should consider. There is no shortage of information verifying how successful masks are at preventing disease, whether COVID or the flu. Just check the stats on the flu this year. Throwing a hissy fit at the airport and creating chaos and yelling at other patrons just destabilized an already stressful environment. On March 11, as we all remember and mourn the loss of more than 22,000 lives lost to this virus, perhaps Jessica Faraone might think of how many of these loved ones would be alive today if everyone followed public health protocols. Darwin said the survivors are those who most quickly adapt to change. Well, if this nurse cannot adapt when her country and the majority of its citizens have accepted change, perhaps she should go back to her new home in Tanzania.

(She is entitled to express her view and opinion, others very obviously disagree with her. But we do agree with what you said that the majority of us have adhered to the rules, even if we don’t like them)
OPEN U.S. BORDER
With Americans being injected against COVID at a great rate, maybe Canada could attain herd immunity by letting millions into Canada. The federal government wouldn’t have to worry about shots for us. Ha!

(Clever, but we need the shots)
