Despite Leicester’s long injury list including several key creative players, Vardy is being unfairly overlooked this week. His four-game goalless streak has an excellent chance of ending against rock-bottom Sheffield United.
It’s March and this is arguably the first time that Chelsea’s marquee summer signing can be considered a fantasy option but Havertz appears to be finding his feet and comes up against Leeds’ questionable defence. Beware Thomas Tuchel rotation, as ever.
It may be time for many Dominic Calvert-Lewin owners to cut their losses and switch over to Richarlison if still interested in Everton assets. Four goals in his last five games bodes well for the visit of Burnley.
Sticking with Carlo Ancelotti’s side, Digne remains a solid defensive asset with attacking upside. It is fair to say that Burnley do not boast the most menacing attack and though Everton blank next week, it is Crystal Palace the week after.
Playing Pep roulette is always a risk but Mahrez’s recent numbers speak for themselves. Six lots of 90 minutes have produced four goals and four assists. Due a rest, then? Maybe, but at just 6.4% ownership he could be a chance worth taking.
Captaincy
Another open field, this week.
Bruno Fernandes will be well-backed and probably the most popular choice, despite coming up against a tough West Ham outfit. Fernandes is the safe pick if you do not want to stray too far from the crowd.
Those who see this as an opportunity to climb the ranks could plump for Jamie Vardy or Kevin De Bruyne. Harry Kane is a risk after his knock against Dinamo Zagreb on Thursday night.
If you are feeling especially lucky, captaining either Timo Werner or Kai Havertz could pay off handsomely but Chelsea’s rotation makes that risky.
Clean sheets
Even though Manchester City’s clean sheets have dried up of late and Fulham’s form is good, it is still hard to ignore Pep Guardiola’s league leaders defensively.
Chelsea are emerging as challengers but their trip to Leeds is not too enticing. Everton, Aston Villa and Crystal Palace are better bets.
