Rep. Adam Schiff (D-CA) turned on New York Governor Andrew Cuomo (D) during a CNN appearance on Friday, saying that he “should resign” after multiple women accused him of sexual misconduct.
Schiff Turns On Cuomo
“I think that my colleagues from New York are right,” Schiff said. “It probably is time for him to step down. They’re closer to the situation than I am.”
“But, I have confidence that if they’ve made the judgment that he can’t govern anymore, that he doesn’t have their confidence or the confidence of New Yorkers to do that, and in light of the seriousness of the allegations of sexual assault or harassment, then I don’t think he can carry on, and in the best interest of the people of New York, he should resign,” he added. “So, I think they’ve reached the right judgment and they’re in a position to know.”

AOC Turns On Cuomo As Well
This comes after Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY) and Rep. Jamaal Bowman (D-NY) teamed up to release a statement saying that Cuomo “must resign.”
“After two accounts of sexual assault, four accounts of harassment, the Attorney General’s investigation finding the Governor’s admin hid nursing home data from the legislature & public, we agree with the 55+ members of the New York State legislature that the Governor must resign,” they said, adding that the latest sexual misconduct claims raise “concerns about the present safety and well-being of the administration staff,” categorizing the allegations as “consistent and highly-detailed.”
“Unfortunately, the Governor is not only facing the accusative that he engaged in a pattern of sexual harassment and assault,” Ocasio-Cortez and Bowman wrote before citing the attorney general’s “extensive report … that found the Cuomo administration hid data on COVID-19 nursing home deaths from both the public and the state legislature.”
AOC And Bowman ‘Believe These Women’
The two Democrats then said that they “believe these women, we believe the reporting, we believe the Attorney General, and we believe the fifty-five members of the New York State legislature, including the State Senate Majority Leader, who have concluded that Governor Cuomo can no longer effectively lead in the face of so many challenges.”
