Another cougar attack in Coquitlam has left a puppy, which was going to be trained as a search dog, dead.
The dog, identified as Diez on social media, was on a leash and out for a walk with its owner on Thursday evening when a cougar attacked.
Its owner, Isaac, is a volunteer with Coquitlam Search and Rescue and Sasamat Volunteer Fire Department.
In a Facebook post, Coquitlam Search and Rescue said the puppy was meant to be a member of its team. “We are all very saddened by this devastating news,” it said.
