The Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G is its latest flagship smartphone featuring a dazzling design, a camera sensor with industry leading algorithms and a hefty dose of specifications.
Shimmering design
Coming in at 184g and 7.99mm thin, the Reno5 Pro 5G offers a lightweight and thin 5G experience. You find a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED 20:9 display on the front with a 90Hz refresh rate and a 2,400 x 1,080 FHD+ resolution. The smartphone’s in hand feel is enhanced by Oppo’s Reno Glow finish at the back. While we saw this on last year’s Reno4 Pro, it has been improved further. It is more shiny and translucent sparkling by up to 35 per-cent more.
The pyramid structure on the glass back of the smartphone is hydrophobic. This means water droplets will slide rather than stick. In turn, you will not face any issue with fingerprints or grease on the Reno5 Pro 5G.
Sony IMX766 camera sensor
On the rear of the Reno5 Pro 5G, you find a quad-camera setup. This boasts a wide 50MP f/1.8 main (IMX766), a 16MP f/2.4 ultra-wide-angle, a 13MP f/2.2 telephoto and a 2MP f/2.4 macro camera. The main camera sports a large 1/1.56-inch sensor which also bolsters low-light performance.
You also find a number of enhancements to video recording features with the Reno5 Pro. The Focus Tracking feature enables more reliable focus whereas a series of algorithms helps to fine tune video in different scenarios. Using AI Highlight Video, you can benefit from Ultra Night Video and Live HDR which detects light conditions and automatically applies required algorithms.
For still photography, the camera setup is more than capable too. There is support for an Ultra Dark Mode and various AI Scene Enhancement tools that optimise shots for colour and saturation. Even the front 32MP selfie camera boasts a number of these AI features alongside the Ultra Night Selfie Mode option.
Processing power
Inside, the Reno5 Pro 5G packs the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 octa-core processor. This enables connectivity, gaming and provides high-performance alongside 12GB of RAM and 256GB of non-expandable storage. Despite the slim form factor of the device, there is still a 4,500mAh battery on-board with 65W SuperVOOC 2.0 support, allowing for a full charge in around 30 minutes.
Software wise, the smartphone comes equipped with ColorOS 11.1 on top of Android 11. This gives you access to features such as the customizable Always-On display and FlexDrop which allows for smooth multitasking among others.
Pricing and availability
The Oppo Reno5 Pro 5G in either Starlight Black or Galactic Silver is available on pre-order from March 17 for Dh2,799. Alongside its flagship, the Oppo Reno5 5G and Oppo Reno5 Z are more affordable versions of the Reno5 series available for Dh1,999 and Dh1,499 respectively.
