Abu Dhabi Festival With UAE Theatre Circle
The Abu Dhabi Festival 2021 has announced the launch of the UAE Theatre Circle, which is a series of Arabic interactive sessions led by theatre leaders with three plays in Arabic and English.
The interactive sessions will be held online till 8 April. Registrations can be made via the Abu Dhabi Festival website.
‘Young People and the Future of Theatre’, with speaker Yasser Al-Qerqawi, will discuss how the younger generation can benefit and grow their artistic talent from theatre experiences on 18 March.
On 22 March, the session ‘The Contemporary City and Forms of Theatre’ with speaker Lina Abyad will talk about how theatre can enhance cultural exchange in an Arab city.
‘The Theatre of Multicultural Societies’, with Dr Johanna Sellman, will discuss the way to navigate between Arab and Western theatre on 25 March.
Habib Gulloom will host ‘Emirati Theatre and Future Generations’, on 1 April and will talk about the development in theatre festivals and the connections with art and the UAE.
The final panel talk will be held on 8 April and will host speakers Karim Rashid, Yasser Al-Qerqawi, Lina Abyad, Dr Johanna Sellman and Habib Gulloom in a discussion titled ‘At the Threshold of the Future of Theatre’.
In partnership with The Junction at Alserkal Avenue, the UAE Theatre Circle will perform three plays from April to November. From 7 to 10 April, the first suspense thriller play, ‘Holmes and Watson’ will take place. The second play, ’12 Angry Jurors’ will be in English and the third play, ‘10%’ will be in Arabic, will both take place later on in the year.
