As a revamp to its A-series, the Samsung Galaxy A32, A52 and A72 are mid-range smartphones that bring a refresh in design and specifications. While the Galaxy A32 had been announced earlier, both the Galaxy A52 and A72 were announced at Samsung’s recently concluded Unpacked event.
Samsung Galaxy A32
The most basic of the lineup, the Galaxy A32 sports an Infinity-U 6.4-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display running at 90Hz. Inside, there is the Mediatek Helio G80 octa-core chip with 6GB of RAM and 128GB of expandable storage. You also find a 5,000mAh battery on the device capable of 15W fast charging. As for the quad-camera, we are looking at a 64MP primary camera, an 8MP ultra-wide sensor, a 5MP macro lens and a 5MP depth sensor. Of course, your selfies are taken care of with the smartphone’s 20MP front facing snapper.
Not to be confused with the Galaxy A32, there is also a Galaxy A32 5G which brings distinct changes to specifications. With this, you find a 6.5-inch HD+ panel alongside the MediaTek Dimensity 720 5G processor. Storage, RAM and battery specifications remain unchanged here although there are other variances. The lack of an AMOLED panel means you find a side-mounted fingerprint scanner as opposed to the under-display one found on the Galaxy A32. The primary, macro and selfie cameras are also bumped down to 48MP, 2MP and 13MP respectively.
Samsung Galaxy A52
The Galaxy A52 slots into the middle of Samsung’s A-series, bringing a 6.5-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ display running at 90Hz. Different from the Galaxy A32 though, it features an O-dot design and a more robust IP67 protection rating. Running the show is the Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G octa-core processor alongside 128GB of expandable storage and 8GB of RAM. You find a 4,500mAh battery on the Galaxy A52, capable of 25W fast charging.
As for camera performance, you find a good variety of flagship features. For example, Super Steady or Portrait mode and this is helped by the capable quad-camera setup found here. There is a 64MP primary camera with optical image stabilisation (OIS), a 12MP ultra-wide, a 5MP macro and a 5MP depth sensor. Over on the front, you find a 32MP camera for selfies. There is also a separate Galaxy A52 5G variant which sports identical specifications barring the Qualcomm Snapdragon 750G 5G processor to accommodate for 5G connectivity.
Samsung Galaxy A72
Offering the cream of the crop for Samsung’s Galaxy A-series is the Galaxy A72. The smartphone shares the design and processing power found on the Galaxy A52 but in a larger 90Hz 6.7-inch Super AMOLED FHD+ form factor. The larger size also means a bigger 5,000mAh battery with 25W fast charging support.
Major improvements with the smartphone come with camera. Sporting a quad-camera setup, its primary camera is a 64MP lens with OIS, accompanied by an 8MP telephoto camera sporting 3x optical zoom and OIS. You also find a 12MP ultra-wide sensor here alongside a 5MP macro camera to cap off its imaging capabilities. The front 32MP sensor remains identical to the Galaxy A52.
Pricing and availability
The Samsung Galaxy A-series is currently available starting with the Galaxy A32 for Dh979. Pre-orders for the Galaxy A52 and Galaxy A72 start at Dh1,299 and Dh1,599 respectively. With the Galaxy A52, you also get a pair of Galaxy Buds+ as a gift. All three Galaxy A-series devices ship with a charging brick and cable included out of the box.
