The Windsor-Essex chapter of Easter Seals Ontario are extending the mandates of their 2020 regional ambassadors through 2021.
Alex Bondy, 6, and Brigid Kidd, 15, had limited opportunities to exercise their roles through 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Bondy loves gym, music and playing on his iPad. He was born with arthrogryposis, which affects his muscles and joints. Bondy’s favourite skill is demonstrating his ability to walk, thanks to a successful knee operation in 2018.
Kidd was born with mitochondrial encephalomyopathy affecting all facets of her life, except for her “Bring it on!” attitude as she faces every challenge with fierce determination, Easter Seals said in a release.
Telethon committee chair Ram Sridhar is entering his sixth year in the position, having volunteered for about 15 years.
“Easter Seals is blessed to have Alex, Brigid and Ram return to the fold as we collectively raise awareness for kids with physical disabilities while generating much-needed dollars to support our mobility grants program,” said development officer Jeremy Renaud. “We have an exceptional team to help us grow our footprint across the region and beyond.”
The 39th Annual Easter Seals Ontario (Windsor-Essex) Telethon presented by the Toldo Foundation will air on Saturday, April 3 and 10 from 3 – 6 p.m. on CTV Windsor. For more information or to donate online, visit easterseals.org/windsor-essex-telethon/.
