Prime Minister Narendra Modi has written a letter to his Pakistani counterpart Imran Khan on the occasion of 81st Pakistan National Day, Press Trust of India reported on Tuesday.
In the letter, Modi extended greetings to people of the country on the occasion of Pakistan Day, people familiar with the development told PTI.
“As a neighbouring country, India desires cordial relations with the people of Pakistan,” Modi wrote. “For this, an environment of trust, devoid of terror and hostility, is imperative.”
The Indian premier also conveyed wishes to Imran and the Pakistani people for dealing with the challenges of the coronavirus pandemic, terming it a “difficult time for humanity”.
“Please accept, Excellency, the assurances of my highest consideration,” the message concluded.
They said it is a routine letter sent every year.

Earlier on Saturday, Modi conveyed his best wishes to Khan for a speedy recovery from coronavirus. Khan and his wife had tested positive for Covid-19, days after taking the coronavirus vaccine.
