West Bengal Elections 2021: A Bharatiya Janata Party leader in Dinhata, Coochbehar district has been found dead near the party office on Wednesday. The party has alleged that the BJP mandal president of Dinhata town has been killed by the Trinamool Party Congress goons. The incident took place just three days ahead of the first phase of polling in the state.
West Bengal Governor Jagdeep Dhankar on Tuesday expressed concern about political violence ahead of the polls.
The governor has been vocal about instances of strife among political parties that have been reported from various districts of the state ahead of the eight-phase polls beginning March 27.
Expressing anguish over incidents of violence in the run-up to the West Bengal Assembly elections, Governor Jagdeep Dhankhar on Tuesday asked the police and administration to remain politically neutral.
On the other hand, West Bengal’s assembly election first phase will be on March 27 and ahead of the final push, Prime Minister Narendra Modi is addressing a public rally in Contai, which is Suvendu Adhikari’s home turf. While the Bhartiya Janata Party is confident of winning more than 200 seats in the elections, TMC has claimed that West Bengal is with Mamata Banerjee.
BJP is certainly leaving no stone unturned to leave a mark in the poll-bound state of West Bengal. PM Modi has already carried out three rallies in West Bengal as of now and today his fourth is in Contai.
