Godolphin Trained Horse Wins Dubai World Cup
The silver jubilee of the Dubai World Cup took place on 27 March at the Meydan Racecourse. The Dubai World Cup is a Thoroughbred Horse race that has been held each year since 1996.
In 2020, the Dubai World Cup was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
The event consists of nine races and ths year was streamed live.
Mystic Guide, ridden by Luis Saez, won the grand prize of $12 million, bringing Godolphin their third winning title at the Dubai World Cup.
Deryan, trained by Didier Guillemin and ridden by Ioritz Mendizabal, won the Dubai Kahayla Classic – Group 1 over a distance of 2km, in 2 minutes and 11 seconds, with Didier Guillemin as the trainer.
Zeden won the Dubai Golden Shaheen – Group 1 over a distance of 1.2km in 1 minute and 19 seconds on the clock. Jockey Antonio Fresu and trainer Carlos David assisted Zeden in winning a $1.5 million.
Despite Zenden winning the race, he later suffered a fatal injury and fell to the ground.
Subjectivist was guided by Joe Fanning for the Dubai Gold Cup – Group 2 race and won over a distance of 3.2km in a time of 3 minutes and 17 seconds, and too the prize money of $750,000.
This year the Dubai World Cup honoured His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Deputy Ruler of Dubai and Minister of Finance and Industry who passed away on 24 March.
