Registering a steady increase for the 19th day in a row, the active cases have increased to 5,21,808.
Eight States — Maharashtra, Karnataka, Punjab, Madhya Pradesh, Gujarat, Kerala, Tamil Nadu and Chhattisgarh — have reported the maximum of daily COVID-19 cases with 84.5% of new cases coming from these States, the Health Ministry said on Monday.
India registered 68,020 cases and 291 deaths in the last 24 hours. Seven States account for 81.79% of the fatalities with Maharashtra registering the highest number of casualties (108). Punjab follows with 69 deaths.
Maharashtra reported 40,414 new cases, followed by Karnataka with 3,082, while Punjab reported 2,870 cases.
India has 5,21,808 active cases with four States — Maharashtra, Kerala, Punjab, Karnataka and Chhattisgarh — accounting for 80.17% of them.
The country’s recoveries stand at 1,13,55,993 with 32,231 recoveries having been reported in the last 24 hours. Maharashtra has reported the maximum number of single day recoveries with 17,874.
