From 22 April 2021, Grab will raise the platform fee for GrabFood and GrabMart to S$0.30 per order. It is currently S$0.20 per order.
According to Grab, the rise in fees was brought about by an increase in demand for deliveries. In an email sent by Grab to customers, the ride-hailing and food delivery platform said that it will need to increase its platform fees to provide a “safer and more efficient platform”.
“In order to continue doing so sustainably, we will be adjusting our platform fee by 10 cents to 30 cents per order effective April 22, 2021. This will go towards maintaining current features and developing new ones,” the company said.
Investing In New And Current Features
Grab said that the platform fees will go towards maintaining current features and developing new ones. The fees will go towards investments in three areas — safety, security and efficiency.
It also stated that there will be new features to reduce wait time. for delivery-partners at stores, and enhanced fraud prevention measures.
The move comes after Grab imposed a S$30 platform fee for its ride-hailing services last December.
Last month, Grab announced that a S$1 processing fee will be charged for GrabPay Wallet top ups made using Visa credit cards. The fee will only be waived for top ups worth S$400 and above.
According to Grab, the new processing fee will be implemented to “cover the costs levied by the service provider.”
